Lead & Seed is an evidence based “Theory of Change” program. It is included in SAMHSA’s (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration NREPP (National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices). Unique among prevention programs, in that many youth prevention strategies focus on changing the behavior of individuals through awareness events, school based programs and family interventions. These approaches to substance abuse prevention typically define the problems as one of poor decision making by individuals. Lead & Seed is based on research that indicates the most successful prevention efforts target ENVIRONMENTAL conditions, such as accessibility and availability of substances, changing community norms, consistent enforcement’s, and policy changes. The Lead & Seed program is certified through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA’s) National Registry of Evidence based Programs and Practices (NREPP).
The next 2-day Lead and Seed Training is scheduled for Friday October 27th and Saturday October 28th, 2017 from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm and will be facilitated at the following locations: Friday – DASD Central Offices 540 Trestle Place in Downingtown, and Saturday October 28th at Marsh Creek Community Church at 101 Crump Road in Exton, PA.
