Established at the conclusion of the Lead and Seed Training in the Spring of 2017, the Youth Prevention Council (YPC) is comprised of high school students from within the greater Downingtown community whose primary goal is to impact the attitudes and behaviors of their peers relevant to drug and alcohol use.
Throughout the school year, the council will meet twice a month to identify issues requiring community attention. They will then plan, facilitate and evaluate prevention activities. The YPC will provide interested students the opportunity to develop the following skills:
- Problem Identification and Solving
- Leadership Skills
Members will work with peers, key leaders in the around the community – including school administrators, residents, law enforcement, government, faith-based, local businesses and the media – in essence, the make-up of the whole community.
If you have a desire to help others and to make a difference in the lives of your peers and adults in the community, this council is for you! Interested? Contact us today!
