Episode 17: How Faith Communities Support Youth & Families
Are you part of a faith community or church? If not, how could joining one support your family? In today’s episode Bethann and Chrissie are speaking with Caasi Grove, the Director of Student Ministries at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Downingtown. Being part of a faith community is shown to be a protective factor, meaning it is linked to positive youth outcomes, though the Downingtown PAYS data has shown youth participation in religious services has been decreasing for several years (this is also a national trend). Caasi shares the benefits of being part of a faith community, Hopewell’s focus on mental health and trends they are seeing among their youth, and the importance of safe spaces for kids. Caasi also gives tips on how to find a church or faith organization that could fit with your family, and Chrissie and Bethann return to their favorite phrase of “time and space”. Join us!
