Communities That Care (CTC) of Greater Downingtown is excited to introduce you to our new friend, ROCKY, whose name stands for Resilient, Outgoing, Confident, Kind, Youth. ROCKY’s goal is to increase awareness about what our organization does in the Downingtown community.

CTC of Greater Downingtown is a coalition of organizations, businesses, schools, faith communities, law enforcement, and healthcare providers that work to foster positive mental health and youth development in our Downingtown community. One of CTC’s signature programs is our HYPE clubs, which stands for Healthy Youth Positive Energy. These student-led clubs are comprised of youth that are passionate about creating a healthy community through advocacy and leadership to prevent substance use and promote positive mental health.

Stop #10: Downingtown Christmas Parade

ROCKY decided to make his final appearance of 2024 at the Downingtown Christmas Parade! He joined CTC as they "pranced for prevention" and raised awareness about what the organization offers Downingtown area families and youth. He is going to take a long Winter's nap but he will be at CTC events here and there - so keep your eyes peeled for this adorable rock  Thank you to the community for embracing ROCKY in his inaugural tour of Downingtown and helping us spread our prevention message!

Stop #9: Borough of Downingtown Office

ROCKY's last stop was at the Downingtown Borough, PA and it looks like he made a friend there! He enjoyed seeing all of our friends at the Borough of Downingtown and is very excited to join CTC in the upcoming Downingtown Christmas Parade. Be sure to keep a lookout for  him and our CTC crew as we 'prance for prevention'! Thank you Downingtown Borough for hosting ROCKY this week, we appreciate your partnership!

Stop #8: Crime Victims Center of Chester County

ROCKY enjoyed visiting our friends at The Crime Victims' Center of Chester County, Inc. and learning about all they do for our community. He also made friends with one of the dogs that visit the staff to help them as they process their emotions in this difficult line of work. Thank you CVC for hosting him, we are so grateful for all the work you do in our community!

Stop #7: Chick-Fil-A, Downingtown Location

ROCKY was a hit this past weekend at the Downingtown location of Chick-Fil-A! He hung out by the registers and many customers stopped to ask more about him and take photos...and ROCKY enjoyed all the extra love & attention Thank you for being such gracious hosts to ROCKY, Downingtown Chick-Fil-A!

Stop #6: Citadel Credit Union, Eagle Location

Thank you to our friends at Citadel Credit Union's Eagle branch who hosted ROCKY last week prior to Thanksgiving. He had a great time hanging out with your team, meeting your customers, and he even learned some healthy money habits! Thanks again for having him and for being such a great community partner, Citadel Credit Union.

Stop #5: Lionville YMCA

ROCKY had a blast last week hanging out with our friends at the Lionville Community YMCA. He greeted visitors at the front desk but rumor has it that he made some time to sneak in a few workouts too Thank you to the Lionville YMCA for hosting him!

Stop #4: Representative Friel-Otten's Office

ROCKY made a surprise guest appearance at our meeting on Monday morning with Rep. Danielle Friel Otten & her team! We had a great time sharing all the important prevention work we are doing in the Downingtown community and how ROCKY is helping us spread awareness about our organization. Thank you to Representative Friel Otten and her staff for taking the time to meet with us!

STOP #3 - Downingtown West High School

ROCKY made a surprise visit to our 1st Conversation Café of the year at Downingtown High School West! Conversation Cafes are one time meetings that create an opportunity for youth to share their thoughts and ideas about how the district can address mental health and substance use. As you can see, ROCKY was a hit with the students and they loved what his name stands for. Thanks to all of the DWHS students for giving ROCKY such a warm welcome!

STOP #2 - The UPS Store, Exton Location

ROCKY's adventures have taken him to our friends at The UPS Store 0754 and we love how they fully embraced the ROCKY theme song and put him to work! Thank you to the team at The UPS Store 0754 for hosting ROCKY and being such a great community partner to CTC.

STOP #1 - Chester County United Way

ROCKY was excited to meet the Chester County United Way team last week. He spent time with their office dog, Winnie , and even stepped in to keep things running while their President & CEO, Chris, was in a meeting! He also connected with the Leadership Chester County class, sharing his goal of building a stronger, kinder community. Thank you to our friends at Chester County United Way for being ROCKY's first stop and showing him such a fun time!
